Bronze Duke of Edinburgh
Award 2007 / 2008
A group of 44 enthusiastic Year 10 pupils set out for Llangollen in October with 8 Mountain Leader Qualified instructors leading small groups of 6 or 7 pupils. The photos show many paths never before walked were found by certain pupils. All pupils were in high spirits as they arrived at the camp site and food was cooked on the recently acquired trangias; although not all food was edible! The second day with all groups having greater autonomy saw a day similar to the the "tortoise and hare" story. Smiling faces masked pain and despair as food, water or both were now in short supply for some groups! Basic lessons from training sessions were now in a real life situation as pupils desperately worked to keep each other motivated. To everyone's credit they all returned safely except for a couple of blisters and red shoulders but what was most notable was how quiet they all were on the coach back to college; blissful!.
Well done to everyone!
