Why do Psychology?

This course will be extremely beneficial for any career and for everyday life. It is particularly relevant for careers in health, welfare, medicine, law, teaching, marketing, human resources, general management, the Police and the media.

AS and A Level Psychology will give you a unique understanding of why people behave in a certain way and what causes human behaviour.

What does AS and A2 Psychology cover?

· You will learn to understand the reasons and motivations behind human behaviour and the facets of abnormal behaviour.

· Issues specifically related to Psychology such as ethics, culture and gender are discussed during the course, providing insight into other areas of society.

What does taking a distance learning course involve?

· As a student taking AS and A2 Psychology via distance learning you will receive a one-hour video conferenced tutorial every week. This involves videoconferencing with your tutor and having an interactive one-hour tutorial about that week’s work.

· The rest of your work is completed through studying on your own or with others in you Psychology tutorial group. You will need to complete about 4-5 hours of independent study a week.

· Taking an AS and A2 Level course via distance learning is a highly rewarding experience, and is excellent preparation for higher education - for example it helps improve your time management skills.

How is it assessed?

As part of your coursework, you will complete regular assignments which will then be sent to your Moorhouse Black tutor via the Link Teacher in your school.

These assignments will be marked and returned to you via your Link Teacher with detailed feedback and grades. The assignments are usually returned to you within two weeks.

You will be entered for your AS and A2 exams along with your other AS and A2 subjects and these will be taken at your school.
