Extra Curricular
Equestrian Club
The Equestrian Squad at Abbey Gate College was formed 7 years ago and started with just one member. It has grown to nearly 25 active members this year involving pupils who are still on lead rein with their parents, to competent riders competing nationally.

The College is a member of the National Schools Equestrian Association and enters as many competitions up and down country as possible. Disciplines entered tend to be Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing, but the Squad would support any pupil in any equestrian discipline if they wished to enter a NSEA competition.
Every rider gets a chance to compete if they want to and regular training sessions are held before each event.
Places for the teams are keenly contested but individual entries are also accepted in most disciplines. The College generously supports the Squad with entry fees for the competitions and overnight stabling for the horses if the Squad needs to travel.
The College has been represented regularly over the last few years at the NSEA Championships, Stonar Independent Schools One Day Event Championships, Eventers Challenge, Inter Schools Show Jumping at Southview and Aintree and most recently the NSEA Eventers League in conjunction with British Eventing.
Anyone interested in joining the Squad can contact Mrs Emma Sanders – Head of PE.
