Drama

Drama begins in the Foundation Stage with role play being a key part of the Communication and Language curriculum. From Year 1 onwards, Drama is delivered as a weekly lesson by a specialist teacher. Lessons involve learning mime, improvisation and performance skills.

In addition, private Speech and Drama lessons are offered to children from 7 years old with performances at various drama festivals around the region being part of our annual calendar. In Year 5 and Year 6, ESB (English Speaking Board) lessons are introduced.

This is a compulsory part of our curriculum and culminates in examinations at the end of each year.

Skills of presentation, poetry recital and reading are developed and Aldford School has an excellent record of high results in this area with 100% of our pupils achieving Merit Plus or Distinction in the most recent set of examinations.

Opportunities for performance are available for all pupils in the school with events such as the Nativity play, Harvest Festival and end of year production which takes place in the College theatre. There is also a popular Performing Arts club as part of our extra curricular programme.
