Alice: My Adventure in Wonderland
Alice: My Adventure in Wonderland
As the encore faded, for the first time in weeks, I began to relax and I could not stop myself smiling. Three performances, two late nights, months of rehearsing and not much had gone wrong!

Aldford School’s J5 and J6 summer play this year was ‘Alice - the Musical’, so on the 23rd and 24th of June; the Abbey Gate College Theatre was turned into Wonderland. Behind stage, there were many strange people (Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee spring to mind) and wacky creatures (some slightly hilarious like Henry Kershaw’s Mock Turtle!)
Meanwhile, on stage, all was going to plan. There were some outstanding performances, especially Holly Gray as the Red Queen (I had to mention her to avoid having my head cut off!), Connor Maughan made a very anxious white rabbit and the tea party scene with Jessica, William and Jamie was hilarious (I had trouble not laughing at times – poor Jamie with his head stuck in a tea pot).
Everyone’s performances were ten times better on the night than in rehearsal and the singing was inspirational all due to Mrs Faithfull’s and Mrs. Dukes’ unwavering support.
Being cast as Alice was nothing short of an honour and I would like to thank all the staff that made it happen.
Josephine Wood, J6
