J3 Visit to the Eaton Estate

On Friday 7th October, J3 visited the Eaton Estate as part of their topic of 'Where we live.'

Very few schools have the privilege of this special visit so the class made the most of their time there, asking lots of questions and producing some lovely sketches. Pupil, Hatty Bird enjoyed the trip very much; here are her thoughts...

On our trip to Eaton Estate, we first had to go through the magic gates! They had gold on them and were very beautiful. We drove through the deer park and saw mummy deer running through the field and daddy deer with gigantic antlers. When we arrived, we first went to the Family Room. Here we looked at the pictures of the six Dukes and Louise told us about the second Duke who wrote a diary with his sisters. We looked at the archives which had lots of writing in them from the past.

After that, we went to the Carriage Room and saw lots of fancy carriages. We saw the carriage that the Duke used to visit the Queen in! Next we saw the Long Room and saw a picture of the old Hall that burned down. We also got to visit the chapel and the stables. In one of the stables was a skeleton of the Duke's racehorse.

I thought the trip was really good because I have always wondered what was behind those gates.
