Romans for the day
As part of our Romans topic, J3 visited Chester for the day.
On our arrival at the Grosvenor Museum, we were instantly transformed into Roman Soldiers with armour and led by our very own Centurion. We walked around the streets observing the Roman Walls, gardens and finally ending up in the Roman Amphitheatre. The children were amazed with the stories of battles and heroics of the Romans in Chester. Three very brave children joined the centurion to demonstrate how Roman toilets worked which led to lots of laughter!
Once back at the museum, we spent time in the two Roman galleries observing tombstones, skeletons and much more. We finished the day with a museum led artefact workshop where the children demonstrated their understanding by answering lots of questions. All of the class took turns to become archaeologists and handle real and replica artefacts.
We had a great day and the excellent behaviour and brilliant knowledge of J3 made their teacher very proud.
