Professor Iain Stewart meets the A Level Geographers
Twelve A Level Geographers from Abbey Gate College recently attended a conference for Upper Sixth pupils in Manchester, where they had the opportunity to meet well-known TV presenter Iain Stewart.
Professor Iain Stewart, from Portsmouth University, was one of several speakers giving the pupils up-to-date information on earthquake and volcanic activity around the world. Other speakers included Professor Fiona Tweed from Staffordshire University, who outlined the recent volcanic activity in Iceland. Abbey Gate pupils will have the opportunity to witness the impacts of these eruptions first hand when they visit Iceland next summer on their Geography field trip. The guest speakers were joined by Chief Examiners from three of the main exam boards, who gave the pupils invaluable advice on exam technique and revision skills.
