Annual Year 7 Chester Zoo trip Summer 2011

In July the Biology Department of Abbey Gate College led its annual visit to Chester Zoo.

rogerandlottieThe students completed a number of activities around the zoo which enabled them to gain an appreciation of the diversity of life on our planet.  Whilst exploring the zoo, pupils had the opportunity to take photographs and subsequently enter a photography competition.  This is the 3rd year the Biology department has run this competition and the standard of entries keeps getting better every year; there are definitely some budding David Baileys in the school!

Ex College Senior Teacher and Head of Science, Roger Slater, judged the entries and the winning photo was a fantastic close up photo of a buffalo which was submitted by Charlotte Allmand.  She is pictured receiving a canvas print of her winning photo from Roger who retired this year after 32 years of continuous service at the College.
