Dancing With The Stars

On Friday 23rd September fifteen pupils from across the College were fortunate enough to engage in Abbey Gate College’s first “Dance Day”. 

The pupils were excited to learn that the day would be led by Nicolette Whitely, one half of Contemporary Dance duo Alleviate ,who were finalists on Sky One’s Got to Dance and professional dancer Jamie Jenkins, who has appeared in a number of West End shows including Fame and High School Musical.  The pupils had the opportunity to experience and develop skills in a variety of styles including Street Dance/ Hip Hop, Commercial, Contemporary, Jazz and Musical Theatre, and were encouraged to choreograph their own routines to their favourite music including Lady Gaga’s Edge of Glory. 

Jessica Alterman of Year 13 stated, “It was such an amazing day and we’re so lucky to have had the chance to work with two professional dancers.  I loved it!” with Drama Teacher, Laura McMahon adding, “The Dance Day was a huge success, it was lovely to see the students express themselves through dance and we’re looking forward to continuing to promote dance throughout the College.”
