Hal is new Arkwright Scholar
Abbey Gate College College is delighted to announce that following a long and demanding application process, Hal Wilson who is in the Lower Sixth and from Chester, was awarded a scholarship from the prestigious Arkwright Scholarship Fund.
The process began before Christmas last year when Hal submitted his initial application outlining his intention to pursue a career in an engineering discipline. Success at the application stage meant entry into a written examination and then to interview at the engineering department of a university of his choice, Hal chose Lancaster and impressed the interview panel enough to be informed he had been awarded the scholarship in early July. Hal will now attend the awards ceremony in the half term break at the Institute of Engineering and Technology in Savoy Place, London where he will meet his sponsor and other Arkwright scholars.
Head of Design and Technology Mr D. Stockley said “Hal is the College’s second consecutive successful applicant for this award and also the recipient of the British Aerospace Award for Technology from the College. He should be very proud of his achievements last year; well done Hal.”
