Under 11 cricket team reach the final

Under 11 ISA Kwick Cricket Competition 2011

The Abbey Gate College Under 11 Kwick Cricket team attended the ISA North cricket tornament at Wigan Cricket Club on Monday 27th June 2011.  After losing the first match to Greenbank the college team came out fighting in their remaining two matches against Bridgewater and Fairholm. 

Extra Curricular SportThe college team won both games and played excellent cricket, notching an average run rate of 260.  Charlie Stratton, Jamie Anderson and Leo Karavasili were the instigators in the triumphs by bowling and batting exceptionally well.  Sam Burns was fantastic in front of the wickets and hit a number of 4’s and 6’s.The College progressed to the semi finals after winning their league and played The Grange B team.  The match went to the final ball where the College required 2 runs to win.  Charlie Stratton made sure of victory by hitting a 6 to take the College into the final against The Grange A.  The final was a little one sided with the Grange dominating and becoming victorious but the College team did work hard and showed pride in their performance.Abbey Gate College player of the tournament goes to Leo Karavasili for his exceptional overall game play.
