Triathlon Champions!

Congratulations go to Ellie McCarthy and Olly McCormick, both Year 8 pupils at Abbey Gate College, who are the Under 13’s Cheshire Triathlon Champions , after winning their respective events at an Event in Macclesfield at the weekend.

Each competitor has to choose three athletics events, a run, jump and throw and is awarded points based on the performance, like in the Senior decathlon or heptathlon competitons.  Ellie chose high jump, 75m hurdles and shot putt for her events while Olly competed in the high jump, long jump and shot putt.

In addition, Ellie came 2nd in the Open competition that was open to athletes aged under 13 from across the North West, while Olly was the overall winner in the boys category
