Hockey - Combined Year 8, 9 & 10 v King's

Our combined Year 8, 9 and 10 team played against the King’s School on Thursday in a match that was well fought and fast paced. 

Abbey Gate took the lead mid way through the first half thanks to a well taken goal by Sophie Hiley.  Kings unfortunately equalised shortly before half time.  The second half was equally well fought and both schools looked threatening on the attack.  Abbey Gate defended well but an unfortunate deflection from our defender’s stick sent the ball flying upwards, hitting the crossbar and eventually going in.  It took a couple of minutes to work out whether a goal had been scored due to the speed and flight path of the ball!! 

We were awarded many short corners in both halves but could not find the back of the goal.  It ended up being one of those days………you can’t win them all!

Final Score:  1 – 2 (loss)
