Equestrian Success for Georgina

This year British Eventing has joined with the National Schools Equestrian Association to create a new competition which is held at BE90 and BE100 level.  Each of the eight regions throughout the country holds two regional competitions for under 18’s.  The top eight competitors from each competition qualify to compete at the national finals at Stonar School next May.

Georgina, who is still only 15, competed at Kelsall Hill Horse Trials on Saturday 24th September with her horse, Sir Sam, in the BE100 competition.

She began the competition by riding in the dressage component, with show jumping the second discipline.  Georgina comments that she was determined to get a good round and not knock down any poles, as she feels this is her weakest phase and it has let her down in the past.  As she jumped the last fence she knew had done it, a clear round!

Georgina’s favourite part of the competition is the cross country phase, which came next.  All that stood between Georgina and the finish were the twenty fences on the course and then hopefully finishing inside the optimum time.  She had an excellent round and negotiated the technical fences without a problem.

Finally all of the marks were announced; Georgina had no time faults in the cross country phase, and had won the overall competition.  First place means that Georgina will be going forward to compete at the national championships in May 2012; the College wish her every success.
