Continued Success in the Indoor Athletics

Wednesday 25th saw the Year 8 boys and girls athletics team attend the Chester and District Indoor Athletics Competition at Queens Park High School.

Nine schools turned up to take part in the event making the atmosphere extremely vibrant and lively; one that clearly inspired the Abbey Gate College pupils to thrive in each of their track and field events.
Both teams did outstandingly well with the girls team being extremely pleased with coming 3rd beating close rivals The King’s School and the boys coming joint 3rd.
The ‘stand out performance’ on the night for the boys was Olly McCormick who showed outstanding mental strength to pull out 3 top performances in the track events. For the girls this has to go to the McCarthy sisters; both Beth and Ellie performed outstandingly and came first in the 8 lap paarlauf and 2 lap individual races. Well done to all the pupils who took part it, was encouraging to see such excellent athletics talent, roll on the summer season.......
