U.15 Hockey Tournament, Hull.
9th / 10th December 2008.
The U.15 girls travelled to Hull on Tuesday, 9th December in readiness for their ISA North tournament the next day. They have worked hard in practices this term and enjoyed some very good results in matches so far this season so, in recognition of their commitment and hard work, were treated to a meal at ASK Italian restaurant……once we found it!
The morning of the tournament was extremely cold and frosty. The pitch was passed as playable and our girls eagerly warmed up and prepared themselves for their matches. Hull Collegiate College hosted the tournament and were very strong – both physically and with raw talent, and were the eventual tournament winners in both age categories. Whilst Abbey Gate were unsuccessful in their matches the team bonded well and have had a taste of things to come as we prepare for a hockey tour to Germany over the Easter holidays. Outstanding performances from Sylvie Christian and Abigail Stubbs in two of the three matches secured them ‘Girl Of The Game’ recipients.
Year 7 A and B Hockey ‘v’ Christleton.
Thursday, 11th December 2008.
Our first indoor fixtures for the Yr.7 girls proved to be fast and furious. They adapted well to the different rules became successful at making space in a confined environment. Both matches allowed for many scoring opportunities but unfortunately the Christleton goal keeper was very good and made some excellent saves during the ‘A’ team match. We lost our concentration for a split second during the second half and allowed Christleton to score an easy - albeit well struck - goal. The ‘B’ team showed dogged determination on the pitch and Anna Williams proved herself to be a talented and hard working forward. Her perseverance paid off and a well deserved goal in the second half secured us the game.
‘A’ Team Final Score: 0 – 1 (loss)
‘B’ Team Final Score: 1 – 0 (win)
Well done to all players.
