Our exciting Psychology curriculum
Psychology is the study of the mind and behaviour. The unseen processes in the mind dictate why we feel, think and behave they way we do. Psychologists observe and measure behaviour scientifically to gain an understanding of these unseen processes and their findings have many applications in the real world.

The department follows the AQA Psychology specification. The AS Psychology course content includes:
Paper 1 – Social Influence, Memory and Attachment
Paper 2 – Approaches in Psychology, Psychopathology and Research Methods
The A level Psychology course content includes:
Paper 1 – Social Influence, Memory, Attachment and Psychopathology
Paper 2 – Approaches in Psychology, Biopsychology and Research Methods
Paper 3 – Issues and debates in Psychology plus three option topics.
All assessment is through written examinations. Throughout the course there are many opportunities for pupils to put their research methods knowledge into practice by designing and carrying out a range of psychological investigations.
A specialist text books is issued which incorporates an online text book with additional features which can be used for extension work and independent study. These are issued and used in conjunction with a wide range of teaching materials.
