As part of our very successful Careers Week, we were delighted to welcome back Old Saightonian Nick Bradley.
Nick, who graduated from our Sixth Form in 2014, went on to study Theoretical Physics at Imperial College in London and graduated with a First Class Degree. While at Imperial College, he was awarded a scholarship at the Royal College of Music, and he took the bold decision to pursue a career in Music and began on his song writing journey.
Nick is now a renowned lyricist, and works with a wide genre of collaborators across the globe.
More about Nick can be found here
As part of Nick’s visit to College, he worked with our Years 9 -13 Music students before presenting an inspiring Whole College (SS) Assembly about his journey after life to College to where he is today
Year 12 student, Henry G-H gave us his thoughts on the the visit:
‘I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and found it very interesting learning about a life of a music producer. Nick told us about how his love for music started at Abbey Gate College, and how he was set on becoming a physicist.
His life changing decision switched dramatically from studying Physics at Imperial College, to a few years later, studying music at the Royal College of Music, in the building next door!
During the workshop session, Nick showed us some of his compositions he was working on and challenged us to work together in groups to create melodies along with fitting lyrics.
At the end of the workshop, Nick played some of our melodies and improvised some lyrics, which was most impressive!
As a music lover myself, I came away from the session very inspired that you don’t have to follow one narrow path in your working career, follow what you love to do!”
Huge thanks to Nick for his time – the students loved his visit and staff were thrilled to see him back in the College again!
