Pupils from Abbey Gate College Infant and Junior School travelled to Manchester this week to take part in the ISA North Athletics competition, joining athletes from 29 schools in a day full of energy, enthusiasm and impressive sporting talent.
Our pupils gave their all on the track and field, representing the College with pride and determination. Among the many standout performances were some truly memorable moments – and two pupils who have now qualified for the ISA National Finals in Birmingham.
In Year 6, Tristan produced a brilliant performance to win the 80m sprint, while Amber claimed second place in the long jump with a fantastic leap of 3.57m.
In Year 4, Toby delivered a strong run in the 600m, winning his heat and only narrowly missing out on a top-three finish when the final times were calculated.
There were also finals appearances from:
Edith (Year 3) – 60m
Mason (Year 4) – 60m
Year 3 girls’ 4x75m relay team
Year 4 boys’ 4x75m relay team
Year 6 girls’ 4x75m relay team
Year 6 boys’ 4x75m relay team
It was a day full of teamwork, talent and terrific effort from all involved. We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part and look forward to cheering on our national qualifiers in Birmingham later this term.
