GCSE and A Level PE students at Abbey Gate College were put to the test at Chester University’s Department of Exercise Sciences.

This was a fantastic opportunity for their revision of theory in a practical setting with an additional insight into degree and career pathways.
After taking weight and height data students had their VO2 max calculated using the Douglas bag collection and analysis.
When comparing themselves to the elite cyclists who average 450 watts over 60 minutes, the students were challenged to pedal at that resistance.
The University staff were genuinely impressed with our student best of 1 minute 25 seconds in these conditions!
This really was excellent revision of theory for all, in the lead up to exam season.
