Christmas Market Brings Festive Magic to Saighton Grange
Published on 1st December 2025
On Friday evening, Abbey Gate College opened its gates for our very first Christmas Market – and Saighton Grange has rarely felt so full of festive cheer.
From the moment families arrived, the College was bustling. The Hall and corridors were filled to the rafters with pupils, parents, staff, alumni and friends of the College, all stocking up on Christmas cheer and gifts in equal measure.
More than 17 stalls lined the venue, showcasing a wonderful range of local “makers”. From handcrafted decorations and homeware to sweet treats and seasonal gifts, there was something to tempt every visitor. We were especially delighted to welcome stallholders from within our own community, including several members of staff and one of our Old Saightonians, who was amongst the very first students to walk through the Grange doors back in 1977.
No Christmas Market would be complete without music, and our pupils certainly rose to the occasion. The Junior School choirs, Belle Plates and Senior School Chapel Choir all performed throughout the evening, providing a joyful soundtrack of carols and Christmas favourites. Their performances created a warm, traditional atmosphere that perfectly matched the twinkling lights and decorated tree.
As guests browsed, chatted and listened, there was a real sense of College community and connection. Old friends caught up, new families were welcomed, and visitors lingered simply to enjoy the surroundings and company.
For a first event of its kind at the College, the Christmas Market was an outstanding success and a true celebration of Abbey Gate College life at this special time of year. Plans are already quietly forming for next year’s event, but for now we are simply grateful to everyone who came along, supported our stallholders and helped to make the evening so memorable.
