Students and staff were delighted to welcome Chester Football Club’s first team to the Senior School for a football skills training session at the end of term.
Making the most of the College’s superb facilities and surrounded by green fields, the players had a highly productive, two-hour training session, keenly observed by students from Years 7 to 10. They then kindly stayed at the College to spend some time with excited students, where they answered their questions and signed lots of autographs.
Pupils from Years 5 and 6 also came up to the Senior School site to watch and learn from the training session and collect their own autographs before returning to lessons in the afternoon.
Our Head, Mr Craig Jenkinson, said,
“It was a privilege to welcome Chester FC’s First Team to Abbey Gate College today, giving our J5 and J6 pupils a unique chance to watch professional athletes train up close. The children saw first-hand the dedication and teamwork required at an elite level, with the players taking time afterwards to meet pupils and sign autographs. This inspiring visit is part of our ongoing partnership with Chester FC, and we look forward to welcoming them again in the future as we continue to encourage a love of sport and show our pupils what can be achieved through hard work and focus.
“Everything we do at Abbey Gate College is focused around the idea of nurturing personal excellence and today provided the perfect opportunity to do just that, this time on the football field.”
