On Saturday, the sun shone down on Saighton Grange as over 350 guests joined us for our annual Garden Gala – a vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and College spirit.
Set in the stunning grounds of Abbey Gate College, the event was alive with activity from the moment the gates opened. Visitors were treated to a rich programme of performances, including rousing renditions from our Junior Choirs, toe-tapping tunes from the Jazz Band, and an energetic performance of Three Tall Tales by pupils in Years 7 to 9. Our talented dancers also took to the stage, adding rhythm and flair to the afternoon.
A treasure trove of local artisans and craftspeople showcased their wares, with stalls offering everything from handmade jewellery and artworks to homeware and gifts. A wonderfully stocked plant stall, run by members of our Gardening Club, proved especially popular – with every penny raised going directly back to support their green-fingered efforts.
The Eswatini 2026 fundraising tombola was a runaway success, while guests also enjoyed delicious handmade cakes, street food from a selection of brilliant local vendors, and a fantastic selection of drinks from the licensed bar and refreshments provided throughout the day.
The College PTA added to the festival feel with a fabulous array of traditional games and activities for all ages – from spin-the-wheel and name the teddy to the ever-popular lucky dip – bringing plenty of fun (and prizes) to the afternoon.
A particular highlight – and surprise hit – was the chance to join guided house tours of Saighton Grange. With queues stretching across the lawn, guests relished the opportunity to step inside the historic building and learn more about its fascinating past.
Meanwhile, the vintage car display drew considerable attention, having more than tripled in size since last year. It proved popular with motoring enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
It was a joy to welcome so many families, friends, and members of the wider community to experience everything Abbey Gate College has to offer – all within the magical setting of Saighton Grange.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a truly unforgettable day.
