Global Success in the Bebras Challenge
Published on 17th December 2025
Two year 8 Abbey Gate College students have achieved outstanding success in the international Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge, earning Gold Awards and placing in the top 10% worldwide.
Taken by students across the globe each November, the Bebras Challenge tests logical thinking, problem-solving skills and computational reasoning. With a maximum score of 165 and a UK average of just 65, reaching Gold Award standard is no small feat. A score of 106 or above places students in the top 10% internationally — an accolade achieved by only 345 students worldwide.
We are delighted to celebrate the success of two of those students from Abbey Gate College:
Arlo D achieved an impressive score of 121, securing a Gold Award
Bertie B achieved a remarkable score of 127, earning a Gold Award and the title of Best in School
These exceptional results reflect both sharp thinking and a strong aptitude for computational problem-solving on a truly global stage.
Warm congratulations to both students on a superb achievement – a result of talent, tenacity and first-rate thinking.
