We recently hosted 11 parents, one of our alumni and three of our governors, all of whom kindly gave up their time to give our Year 11 cohort some professional interview practice. This is an important and integral part of our careers programme, preparing our students for life beyond the classroom.
These Year 11 students are studying for their GCSEs and have important decisions ahead of them. After Sixth Form, they may choose to go on to Higher Education, select an apprenticeship pathway or even plan to build a business of their own. Whatever their choice, at Abbey Gate College we want our students to be the best they can be as they prepare to make their mark on the world. Achieving the highest results they can academically is important and acquiring essential life skills, particularly employability, is also absolutely vital, to make our students ready for the world of work.
We are very grateful to our professional interviewers for providing this excellent opportunity for interview practice, as well as extremely useful feedback for our students on the development of their CVs.
Following the session, comments the interviewers provided were overwhelmingly positive about our students, making us even prouder of them all.
We are holding our annual Careers Fair at the College on Thursday 9 October from 5-7pm, where a number of employers will be attending to talk to our students about their future plans. Any more employers interested in attending should email Mrs Deborah Jenkinson for more information at deborah.jenkinson@abbeygatecollege.co.uk for more information.
