It is a rare and rather remarkable moment for our College to have two members of our Sixth Form selected to play for Cheshire Schoolboys — a squad drawn from every school and college across the county, from Chester through to Macclesfield.

Joseph H and Ben C have both captained and featured regularly this season, and they were instrumental in a superb 5–2 victory in the National ESFA Cup against a very strong South Yorkshire side. Joseph led the Cheshire defence with real composure throughout a closely fought contest that sat at 2–2 heading into the final 20 minutes. Then Ben, with a timely blend of grit and guile, drove the midfield forward, converted a penalty, and delivered a pinpoint long-range pass to set up the final goal. Seeing the pair celebrate together at the final whistle was a proud moment for all who have supported their footballing journeys.

There is more impressive news from across the College.

Further notable achievements include Year 11 students Sam S and Ewan D. Ewan recently played  in Tranmere FC’s recent 4-0 win in the FA Youth cup v Harrogate. For Ewan as an under-16 player to be playing two years up at under-18 level is an outstanding achievement and something which is testament to his hard work and determination. We look forward to hearing how he gets on in the next round. After successful trials, Sam has been selected to represent Cheshire under-16 this year and is following in the footsteps of Ben and Joe, Sam has put in some outstanding performances for his county, most recently he helped his team to a well deserved win against another very talented South Yorkshire Schoolboys team.

Meanwhile, in Year 9, Max N has enjoyed a superb start to his representative football. After coming through competitive trials, he has already worn the Cheshire FA shirt in fixtures across the country, including games against Northumbria FA and Lancashire FA, and he is set to take on Manchester City Academy next week.

Max has also been selected for Chester FC this season and has enjoyed impressive results against Bradford City, TNS, Tranmere Rovers and Port Vale. Alongside these achievements, he continues to play for Chester Nomads, who completed the 2024/25 season undefeated in the Regional League — a title-winning run that has earned them promotion to the National League of the Junior Premier League.

These achievements reflect not only individual talent, but also the commitment and character our pupils bring to their sport. We look forward to seeing where their football journeys lead next.
