Soaring Success for Abbey Gate College Quadcopter Team
Published on 27th November 2025
Abbey Gate College’s Quadcopter Challenge team has made an extraordinary mark on the national stage, securing an impressive third-place finish at the National Final in London on Tuesday. This achievement is the culmination of months of dedication, teamwork, and skill, following a string of strong performances in the regional heats.
The journey began with the regional competition, where the team showcased their technical prowess and strategic thinking. Their precise flying, rapid problem-solving, and cohesive teamwork set them apart, earning them a place among the nation’s best and a ticket to the highly competitive final.
Accompanied by Mr Kebbell, the team faced an early start travelling to London, but this did nothing to dampen their energy or focus. “Another fantastic day of competition for the Abbey Gate College quadcopter team,” he said. “Abbey Gate started the day on top form with an exemplary piloting display from Thomas P, wowing the judges with lightning-quick reactions and agility. All team members went on to deliver a composed and insightful presentation to a panel of military and industry experts. I’m delighted to report that in their first ever National Final, the team secured an incredible 3rd place! A just reward for their efforts over the last few months. Congratulations to the quadcopter team of John H, Poppy B, Noah H and Thomas P – you were brilliant.”
Throughout the day, the students demonstrated not only exceptional technical skill but also the professionalism and confidence that impressed both judges and fellow competitors. From tight manoeuvres in the flight arena to delivering clear, thoughtful presentations about design, strategy, and innovation, the Abbey Gate team excelled in every aspect of the competition.
For the team members – John H, Poppy B, Noah H, and Thomas P – this achievement represents both a personal and collective triumph. It highlights the power of dedication, collaboration, and perseverance, and serves as an inspiration to all students pursuing STEM and engineering challenges.
With a national podium finish in their very first final, the Abbey Gate College Quadcopter Team has firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with.
