The Performing Arts Department at Abbey Gate College is celebrating a fantastic achievement as two of our talented students, James and Marcus, have successfully secured places in the prestigious National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT).
Fresh from their captivating performances in our recent College production of Les Misérables, James and Marcus impressed the audition panels with their talent, commitment, and passion for performance. Their selection places them in a national programme renowned for launching the careers of some of the UK’s most well-known actors and creatives.
This exciting news means Abbey Gate College now proudly counts four students amongst the ranks of the country’s top youth theatre organisations. James and Marcus join Olivia, who is already part of the NYMT and Erin, who is a member of the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT).To have so many students involved in these nationally respected programmes is a remarkable accomplishment and a reflection of the strength, dedication, and vibrancy of our Drama Department.
Miss Anger, Head of Drama at Abbey Gate College, said:
“We are absolutely delighted for James and Marcus. Their hard work, enthusiasm, and genuine love for the performing arts has shone through time and again, and this achievement is richly deserved. To have four students participating at this level is a real testament to the culture of creativity and excellence we’re proud to foster here at Abbey Gate College.”
Participation in NYT and NYMT gives students the opportunity to work with industry professionals, take part in high-quality productions and training, and gain invaluable experience in the performing arts. It also opens doors to future study and career opportunities in theatre, film, and beyond.
Everyone at Abbey Gate College is immensely proud of James, Marcus, Olivia, and Erin, and we look forward to seeing where their talents and dedication will take them next. Bravo!
