Year 8 Students Claim Top Award at Regional STEM Competition

Last Friday, a small group of Year 8 students took part in a STEM Day at Liverpool Hope University, organised by MCS Projects. The event brought together students from around a dozen schools across the North West of England for a series of fast-paced, hands-on challenges.

Across the day, students competed in a range of activities, from building LEGO robotics and micro electric vehicles to designing e-fits used in criminal investigations. The tasks required creativity, teamwork and a good deal of resilience under pressure.

All of our students represented the College with real distinction and rose to every challenge set. Particular congratulations go to Lara and Amélie, who achieved outstanding success by building the fastest micro electric vehicle of the day. This was especially impressive given they were competing against students predominantly from an older year group.

The pair received their award to enthusiastic applause, presented in the presence of one of His Majesty King Charles III’s representatives on Merseyside, a memorable moment in an already impressive day.

Well done to everyone involved for an excellent display of curiosity, collaboration and commitment throughout the event.
