Abbey Gate College is delighted to introduce the new Head of School Team for 2026-27, a group of students who will play a key role in representing the pupil voice, supporting whole-school initiatives, and championing the values that sit at the heart of College life.
This team will lead across our Three Pillars – Self, Service and Sustainability – which underpin everything we do as a school community.
Self – Each pupil cares for their mental and physical wellbeing; learns and achieves to their individual potential; and is content, comfortable and confident to be who they are in our diverse and inclusive College.
Service – Each pupil makes a positive difference to the lives of others in our College, as well as in our local and in wider, global communities.
Sustainability – Each pupil contributes towards preserving and protecting the planet we all inherit and share, and has the opportunity to be creative and innovative; to help further humanity’s progress in the future.
Together, these pillars shape the values and expectations of student leadership at Abbey Gate College, and provide the framework for the year ahead.
We are therefore pleased to announce the 2026-27 Head of School Team:
- Head of Self: Morgan H
- Deputy Head of Self: Ruby J
- Head of Service: Gabe G
- Deputy Head of Service: Harry H
- Head of Sustainability: Eadie W
- Deputy Head of Sustainability: Joe F
Each student brings their own strengths, perspective and enthusiasm to their role, and over the coming year they will help to lead initiatives, support younger pupils, and contribute to the continued development of College life.
Head of Self, Morgan H, brings a reflective and adventurous outlook shaped by a wide range of interests beyond the classroom. He enjoys spending time shooting in Llandegla with his father and pursuing flying lessons at Hawarden Airport towards his private pilot’s licence, experiences that reflect both discipline and ambition. Morgan draws inspiration from travel, with Norway standing out as a memorable destination thanks to its striking scenery, while future ambitions include exploring New Zealand and Australia, alongside an upcoming school expedition to Eswatini. After Abbey Gate College, he plans to combine travel with practical qualifications in areas such as agriculture, equine studies and engineering skills, before progressing towards flight school and a future career in commercial aviation. His advice to his younger self is simple but powerful: enjoy every moment, embrace challenges, and make the most of time with friends.
Head of Service, Gabe G, brings energy, enthusiasm and a strong team spirit to his role. Outside of school, he enjoys playing rugby and staying active, reflecting his love of sport and teamwork. At home, he is kept company by his cockapoo, Scout, and proudly counts himself as a dog person. Gabe also has a surprising hidden talent – he can backflip – which certainly adds to his sense of character. Looking ahead, he hopes to go on to university after Abbey Gate College, although he is still exploring future career options and is open to finding something he enjoys and feels passionate about along the way.
Head of Sustainability, Eadie W, is already looking forward to her role with a thoughtful and grounded outlook. Outside of school, she enjoys swimming as a way to relax and spend time with friends, and values simple family traditions such as sharing a home-cooked bolognese. She also enjoys light-hearted viewing such as Friends, and appreciates small comforts like a hot chocolate, particularly during winter skiing trips. It is this balance of reflection, warmth and appreciation for everyday moments that she brings to her leadership role.
Deputy Head of Self, Ruby J, brings both ambition and commitment to her role. She encourages others to embrace new opportunities, advising her younger self not to be afraid to take a leap, a philosophy that clearly underpins her approach today. Ruby has clear aspirations to pursue a career in children’s nursing, with the goal of working within a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, potentially via a degree apprenticeship route. Proud of her involvement in coaching netball both in and beyond school, she demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting others and developing confidence within her community. Alongside her leadership qualities, Ruby brings a light-hearted sense of character too, with a firm and unambiguous stance on pineapple as a pizza topping.
Deputy Head of Service, Harry H, brings a strong sense of tradition, passion and personality to his role. Outside of school, he enjoys playing and watching rugby, a sport that clearly plays a central part in his life. When it comes to food, a classic Sunday roast stands out as his ultimate favourite meal, reflecting his appreciation for tradition and simple favourites done well. Harry also has a strong interest in travel and rural life, with New Zealand high on his list of places to visit, inspired by its farming culture and rugby heritage. Reflecting on his school journey so far, he chose Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac as a fitting soundtrack, capturing both individuality and momentum as he looks ahead to his leadership role.
Deputy Head of Sustainability, Joe F, brings a reflective and ambitious outlook. He is inspired strongly by his parents, whom he credits for their guidance and support, and is motivated by a desire to make them proud in all that he does. Looking ahead, Joe is considering a gap year to work and travel before going on to study Psychology at Liverpool University. Outside of the classroom, he enjoys music, films and series such as Forrest Gump and A Series of Unfortunate Events, and likes to stay active through cycling and running in the warmer seasons, balancing this with winter evenings spent watching films.
Leadership within Abbey Gate College Sixth Form is rooted in character, commitment and care for others, and this year’s team reflects those qualities in abundance. With some students having progressed through our Junior School and others joining us in Year 7, they each bring a unique journey and perspective to their roles, united by a shared sense of responsibility and pride in their College. As they take on their positions for the year ahead, they do so as role models for younger pupils and as ambassadors for the values that define life at Abbey Gate College – thoughtful in outlook, active in service, and ambitious for themselves and others.
