We are proud to celebrate another highly successful set of A Level results for our Sixth Form students, with an increase in top grades at A* to C. Academic rigour and strong individual progress are further evidenced by the even more positive value-added measure.
The College’s results day is about much more than a set of grades. It is about recognising the progress each student has made, and how prepared they are for their next steps – as best fits their own passion, skills, and ambition.
This year’s cohort includes several students who joined Abbey Gate College at Sixth Form, after finding that their previous school did not provide the support or opportunities they needed, as well as students who have been part of the College community throughout their schooling. The cohort also includes students who joined from overseas, demonstrating the breadth of backgrounds and experiences within our Sixth Form.
The wider achievements of this cohort are equally impressive, with almost half of the year group having undertaken their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, demonstrating the commitment, resilience and independence that sit at the heart of the College’s Self, Service, Sustainability ethos. Alongside their A levels, a similar number also completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), developing the independent research, critical thinking and project management skills that will support them well in their future studies and careers.
The cohort also includes students who compete at regional and national levels in their chosen sports, while other students have secured first-time acceptances to specialist destinations including prestigious Drama Schools and Flight School. One student is also progressing directly into employment with the Police, following an impressively successful first-time application.
These varied destinations reflect the College’s commitment to helping every student find the right next step for them. Whether that means university, degree apprenticeships, specialist training, professional employment or pursuing a particular passion, the emphasis is on finding the best personalised fit for each individual.

“What makes this cohort particularly special is the breadth of their aspirations and the variety of their next steps. From university and specialist training to direct employment, each student is moving forward with a destination that reflects their own talents, ambitions and interests.
“We are particularly pleased to see students achieving outcomes that reflect the progress they have made throughout their Sixth Form journey. They have worked hard, embraced the opportunities available to them and demonstrated that success can look different for every individual.
“We wish every member of the cohort the very best as they take their next steps. We are excited to see where their individual talents, ambitions and achievements take them.”

“One of the most rewarding aspects of Sixth Form is seeing young people grow in confidence, find their direction and begin to recognise what they are capable of. This cohort has done exactly that, and we are incredibly proud of each of them.
“We are especially pleased for those students who joined us for Sixth Form after feeling that their previous school had not given them the opportunities or support they needed. To see them thrive here, both personally and academically, has been hugely rewarding.
“Our students have made the most of their time at Abbey Gate College. They have benefited from the extraordinary fabric of the College – its people, opportunities, facilities and community – but, importantly, they have also given so much back during their time here.
“Their contribution to College life has been every bit as important as their academic achievements. We have seen students grow into confident young adults who are ready to take their place in the wider world, and that is something we can all be proud of.
“We wish them every success for the future and hope they look back on their time at Abbey Gate with real pride in what they have achieved and the people they have become.”
