Our Careers Fair on Thursday 8 October brings together an impressively broad mix of employers, universities, professional organisations and specialists from the world of work. From aerospace and engineering to law, healthcare, marketing, policing, conservation, hospitality and entrepreneurship, students will have the opportunity to discover just how many different routes their interests and talents can take them.
A world of possibilities
Rather than simply presenting students with a list of jobs, our Careers Education programme encourages them to explore industries, ask questions and understand the different routes into further study, training and employment.

It takes a community
The breadth of the Careers Fair is also a reflection of the strength of the wider Abbey Gate College community.
Alongside employers and education providers, we are delighted to welcome Old Saightonians, parents and friends of the College, who are generously sharing their own professional experience with our students.
Their careers span an equally fascinating range of fields: from entrepreneurship, IT and AI, construction and project delivery to photography, tourism, politics and economic development, policing, hospitality, care, healthcare, automotive design, languages and global media.
There will be opportunities to hear from people working with organisations such as VisitEngland, PepsiCo, Bentley and Croud, as well as those who have built businesses of their own.
For students, this offers something particularly valuable: the chance to have an honest conversation with someone who has actually navigated the world of work – including the twists, turns and unexpected opportunities along the way.
Careers education isn’t just about choosing a career.
It is about helping students understand themselves, recognise their strengths, develop confidence in unfamiliar situations and begin to see the possibilities that lie beyond school.
The Careers Fair is one part of that wider programme, giving students the chance to speak directly to people working in different industries, find out what those careers actually involve and discover routes they may never have considered.
Because sometimes the most useful careers conversation begins with: “I didn’t even know that was a job.”
