Abbey Gate College was delighted to welcome pupils, families, friends and members of the wider community to our Garden Gala on Saturday, bringing together an afternoon of music, theatre and celebration in the beautiful surroundings of the College.
We were honoured to welcome the Lord Mayor of Chester among our guests, alongside a fantastic range of exhibitors whose displays, demonstrations and expertise added another dimension to the event. Their enthusiasm helped create a vibrant atmosphere and gave visitors even more to enjoy throughout the afternoon.
The Gala showcased the breadth of talent across the College, with performances from pupils of all ages. Our Infant and Junior School pupils delighted audiences with a varied programme featuring the uplifting voices of the Just Sing Choir, confident soloists, accomplished duets and a spirited performance from the Belle Plates handbell ensemble. Their enthusiasm, musicianship and confidence were a joy to watch, earning warm applause from the appreciative audience.
The musical entertainment continued with a superb jazz set performed by an ensemble comprising members of staff and A Level Music students. Their polished performance created the perfect soundtrack to the afternoon, demonstrating the collaborative spirit that is such an important part of life at Abbey Gate College.
The centrepiece of the day was our Key Stage 3 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Performing in the College grounds provided a fitting setting for Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy, with the audience transported into a world of mischief, magic and mistaken identity. Our talented cast delivered an entertaining and accomplished performance, bringing energy, humour and creativity to every scene. It was a fitting finale to an afternoon celebrating the performing arts and the confidence our pupils develop through them.
Events such as the Garden Gala are only possible through the generosity and commitment of many people, and we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and supported the College throughout the day.
A particularly heartfelt thank you goes to our exceptional PTA. Their vision, dedication and countless hours of planning transformed an ambitious idea into a truly memorable event. From coordinating exhibitors and refreshments to ensuring every detail ran smoothly, their hard work was evident throughout the day. We are incredibly grateful for everything they do to support our pupils, staff and wider College community.
The Garden Gala was a wonderful celebration of creativity, community and collaboration, providing a memorable way to conclude another successful academic year.
